The role of I region gene products in macrophage - T lymphocyte interaction.

چکیده

The macrophage first gained recognition in the early 192O's and 193O's as the cell responsible for clearing antigen and synthesizing antibody (Sabin 1923). Its importance to the immune response faded with the realization that lymphocytes and not macrophages were the origin of antibody molecules and it was not until the early 196O's that experiments suggested that antigen processing by the macrophage was required for stimulation of immunocompetent lymphocytes (Fishman & Adler 1963). This renewed interest, however, was short lived when it was demonstrated that antigens could be recognized by lymphocytes. Furthermore, although lymphocytes could interact with macrophage bound antigen it did not appear critical that this antigen be processed, or structurally altered, by the macrophage.

A Functional Polymorphism of the Granulocyte Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor is not Associated with the Outcome of HTLV-I Infection

Introduction Genetic background has known to be associated with the outcome of human T cell lymphotropic virus (HTLV) type I infection. In The present study we investigate the association between GM-CSF gene polymorphisms with the outcome of HTLV-I infection. Materials and Methods We analyzed 3 single-nucleotide polymorphisms in the promter region of granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating...

پلی‌مورفیسم ژن IL18 در بیماران دیابتی نوع I: یک مطالعه مورد- شاهدی

Background: Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disease characterized by T-cell Mediated destruction of pancreatic β-cells. A variety of environmental, genetic and Immunologic factors are involved in the development of the disease. IL18 is a cytokine secreted by macrophage and monocytes and play an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetes Type I through inducing IFN-γ production. It is shown...

The role of macrophages in the generation of T-helper cells. II. The genetic control of the macrophage-T-cell interaction for helper cell induction with soluble antigens

Helper cell induction to nonparticle antigens in vitro requires the cooperation of T cells and macrophages, but does not occur if the macrophages are allogenic. The reasons for this were investigated. Malfunction of allogenic macrophages was excluded by cultures with their syngenic T cells; suppressor cell induction was excluded by admixture experiments. Thus, T cells and macrophages only co...

P 130: The Role of Host T- Cell Lymphocyte in Immunopathogenesis of HTLV-I-Associated Myelopathy/Tropical Spastic Paraparesis

Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) is associated with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) and HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). Only a limited percentage of infected individuals develop disease in response to the virus while the majority remain asymptomatic and HAM/TSP is the most common clinical manifestation of the virus. HAM/TSP is an inflamma...

Role of I-region gene products in macrophage induction of an antibody response. II. Restriction at the level of T cell in recognition of I-J- subregion macrophage determinants

The effect of specific anti-I-J reagents on macrophage-T cell interactions was studied in an in vitro antibody response to burro erythrocytes. Macrophages were prepared from the spleens of F1 hybrid mice whose parental strains differed at the I-J subregion. Two F1 hybrids were used for these experiments, [B10.A(3R) X B10.A(5R)]F1 and [B10.S(9R) X B10.HTT]F1. F1 macrophages responded equally wel...
